Gideon Reeling

Dyrham Park is a National Trust Property presented as the Baroque home of William Blathwayte.

The brief for this project was to :
-create a suite of interpretation that playfully worked with the presentation of the rooms, 
-actively engage visitors with the plans that the NT had for future presentation 
-and involve visitors during their journey around the property. 
. 
The National Trust wanted the interpretation to :
-provoke discussion, 
-encourage visitors to look more deeply at the presentation 
-and as a result to leave feedback that became part of the installation.

All elements were created to avoid the use of traditional interpretation boards

The installations included: 
-printed mirrors, 
-a de-constructed Vanitas still life, 
-a Family tree wall hanging, 
-delft plates printed with information in place of interpretation boards, 
- a freestanding installation to illustrate the changing face of one particular wall to peel back the layers of history, 
- A viewfinder to reveal the appearance of the original staircase in Blathwaythe's home
-and a visitor feedback board which took Vanitas  style paintings of letter racks as inspiration,

We also installed room sheets to support these non traditional interpretation styles
